Accommodative Cork and Leather our Cork and Leather molds are made with thermocork and an 8-ounce cowhide leather. The bottoms are finished with suede. These molds are similar in feel to the old-fashioned leather laminates. We make them in 3 lengths (behind the metatarsal head, to the sulcus, and a Levy mold, which is to the toes). Most patients will wear these othotics in sneakers or shoes with removable innersoles. However, they can be made very thin, with just arch support. Patients requiring a medial flange may be more successful in tolerating these orthotics because the material is not rigid. For your active diabetic patients who need good support and cushioning, I recommend adding a 1/8 inch Spenco covering. For patients who are marathon runners, I recommend our Levy mold with a small medial flange finished off with a 1/8 inch absorbafoam bottom. This will give them support and shock absorption without drastically altering their gait.
