Soccer is a difficlt sport to build orthotics for. The challenges includes the limited space inside a soccer cleat, and the great variety of motion that the foot will experience during a soccer match.

In soccer there are periods of running, pivoting, and jumping. The running is sometimes a sprint, sometimes a jog. There are also timew where the soccer player will go through a side stepping motion.

A device that will optimally improve the ability of the foot to function during one of these activities will not be optimal for the other activities during the match. In addition soccer players are usually concerned with the weight of anything that is put into their shoes.

One advantage of soccer is that it tends to be on softer sufraces such as grass or synthetic turf, so we have less of a need to be concerned about the cushioning ability of the device, which allows us to keep the device thinner. At Fiber Labs we recommend devices with intrinsic forefoot and rearfoot posting with the shell material based upon the weight and age of the player.

If a player is experiencing symptoms of discomfort when playing soccer, the orthotic can be specially modified to address the pathology associated with their symptoms.
